Authorities are trying to find a U.S. Marine who went lacking throughout a coaching train off the coast of Southern California.
Search and rescue efforts started round 1:20 a.m. Thursday, and after almost two full days, the Navy transitioned to restoration operations.
The search spanned roughly 2,400 sq. miles and concerned officers from the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Air Power who used three floor ships and 12 plane.
The Marine was serving on the transport dock ship USS Anchorage and went lacking throughout a coaching operation involving the thirteenth Marine Expeditionary Unit and Makin Island Amphibious Prepared Group.
The search marks the second time in latest weeks that the U.S. navy has looked for lacking service members. The Related Press reported that the stays of two Military troopers who went lacking whereas off obligation from navy workout routines in Morocco had been recovered in Could.
Officers didn’t determine the Marine who went lacking Thursday or disclose the circumstances surrounding his disappearance, saying that the title shall be withheld till after the household is notified.
