On 25 July 2026, Taiwanese artist Ya-Ting Kao is ready to open her newest solo exhibition, The Folds of Time. The exhibition takes a have a look at the connection between inventive creation and the passage of time by a collection of works centered on flowers in several levels of decay. Kao particularly turns her consideration to pale and shrivelled flowers, treating them as symbols of endurance and transformation.
Kao’s new physique of works on paper mix oil pastel with watercolour and ink in large-scale compositions. The layered supplies mirror processes of change inside the pure world in addition to human expertise, creating richly textured compositions that blur the boundary between the primordial and the ephemeral. In these works, Kao seeks to seize what she describes because the “folds” of time.
