Eight King Herods have been introduced for the upcoming autumn Theatre Royal Drury Lane run of Jesus Christ Celebrity.
Golden Globe-winning actor and Emmy-nominated star of Fellow Vacationers Matt Bomer will likely be taking part in the position from October 16-31, with Gavin and Stacey star Rob Brydon taking up from November 2-7. Inside No.9 co-creator Reece Shearsmith will likely be Herod from November 9-14, with drag royalty Bob The Drag Queen starring from November 16-21, and musical legend Michael Ball from November 23-December 5.
Simon Russell Beale will now be starring from December 7-12 (rescheduled from the London Palladium run) while comic Omid Djalili will play the position from December 14-19. Theatre icon Layton Williams will likely be doing double responsibility, returning as Herod from December 21-January 2, 2027 after his two week stint at The Palladium. One last Herod for the ultimate week of performances will likely be revealed in the end.
Jesus Christ Celebrity opens at The London Palladium tomorrow evening, with singer-songwriter Sam Ryder taking part in the titular position of Jesus. He will likely be performing alongside Desmonda Cathabel as Mary Magdalene, David Thaxton as Pontius Pilate, Bob Harms as Caiaphas, Matty J as Annas and Phil King as Peter.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Richard Armitage, Boy George, Layton Williams and Julian Clary will likely be sharing the position of King Herod in the course of the Palladium run.
