To the editor: As we age, we study increasingly more in regards to the significance of social contact and interpersonal relationships, which make the getting older course of more healthy and extra gratifying. However as an alternative of corporations investing in that concept, we’re witnessing the glorification of and exorbitant sums of cash invested into synthetic intelligence and robotics, not all of which can result in discoveries that may profit mankind.
Sadly, driverless taxis and robots developed to displace staff and human contact might have severe social, psychological and financial penalties that must be addressed earlier than their widespread use (“Why is Uber deepening autonomous car ties with Chinese language companies?,” Oct. 28). By doing so, such new expertise must justify its significance to advertise the final welfare and well being of our residents.
