To the editor: Studying about Gov. Gavin Newsom’s proposed $19-million marketing campaign to shine California’s nationwide picture made me shake my head (“Newsom planning $19-million push to shine California’s nationwide picture,” March 6).
Why spend that type of cash on advertising when hundreds of thousands of Californians already love this state and will present it way more authentically? Take a web page from KCRW’s “Why I Love L.A.” Invite Californians to make use of their telephones to share brief movies of their favourite locations and why they love residing right here. You’d get an actual portrait of California — its magnificence, variety and on a regular basis magic — with out spending hundreds of thousands on a shiny marketing campaign.
I’d gladly volunteer to begin with Los Angeles. Then take the $19 million saved and begin fixing our roads.
