On Saturday, Aug. 30, Nicolas Hohls, 27, who lives at Strydgewon Farm in Harburg, KwaZulu-Natal, arrived at Cape Vidal Nature Reserve in St. Lucia, South Africa — which he’d been visiting since he was 6 years outdated — simply earlier than midday along with his dad, Colin, prepared for the celebrations to start.

Hohl’s screams woke his dad, who was within the rooftop tent above him.

Hohls is now specializing in getting higher, telling PEOPLE that docs have mentioned full restoration will take “a couple of month.”
