To the editor: Glorious, complete article by senior author Doug Smith on the alternatives and challenges for winding down the oil area and redeveloping housing and open house instead (“As a century-old oil area winds down, what’s subsequent for Baldwin Hills? A sprawling park or housing?,” Nov. 9). Just one key problem was omitted: the lively and doubtlessly hazardous Newport-Inglewood fault, which bisects Baldwin Hills.
No worries. I’m certain builders will construct houses on prime of the fault zone that may stand up to a significant fault rupture. If you wish to transfer into a kind of houses, I’ll maintain your beer and watch.
