To the editor: The authors of this op-ed would do nicely to speak with the folks in command of L.A. County zoning (“Constructing a extra stunning L.A. in an age of ugliness,” March 11). The very design options they criticize — setbacks, pop-outs, jagged roof traces and aircraft modifications — are all among the many architectural design options from which I’m required to pick for allow approval on my newest constructing undertaking.

I personally choose our present white bins over the dreary residences from many years previous, and the authors’ solely type suggestions are for extra stone and tile on the facades. Is the market prepared to pay for these upgrades? I misplaced appreciable out-of-pocket cash constructing white bins final time. So no extra design necessities, please, if we want to help, not hinder, our housing objectives.
