To the editor: Congratulations to the Los Angeles Unified Faculty District for its good points (“LAUSD take a look at scores hit a brand new excessive, erasing pandemic lows with a second 12 months of robust good points,” July 22). But you will need to acknowledge that the one-time federal cash was spent on costly labor-intensive packages (tutoring, summer time faculty, lessons throughout winter and spring break, intervention lecturers and studying coaches) to handle the harms of the COVID-19 pandemic. Supt. Alberto Carvalho, per the article, insists that “the system in place ought to proceed to construct on the educational good points.” However with the cash all spent, how can it? Extra readability from the LAUSD on that time could be appreciated.
