Greater than three dozen college students from Collège catholique Samuel-Genest discovered themselves stranded in a parking zone close to St. Laurent Procuring Centre in east Ottawa on Friday afternoon. The incident concerned their college bus driver, who returned to the depot on Coventry Street and left the kids behind.
Particulars of the Incident
The scholars, touring residence to the Vanier neighbourhood after college, had been aboard the bus when the motive force deserted them round 2:45 p.m. A scholar or mum or dad promptly contacted Ottawa police to report the state of affairs. Patrick Pharand, director of the Consortium de transport scolaire d’Ottawa (CTSO), confirmed that roughly 40 college students had been affected.
The CTSO’s regional supervisor arrived on the scene together with a workers member to make sure the scholars remained secure all through the ordeal. “The scholars had been in good arms always,” Pharand acknowledged in a communication to oldsters.
Response and Decision
Whereas authorities dealt with the matter, the CTSO reached out to oldsters straight. A alternative driver took over to move remaining college students to their designated stops, and a number of other dad and mom arrived to gather their kids personally.
Pharand emphasised the severity of the breach, noting, “The motive force will not be driving a faculty bus ever once more.” Collège catholique Samuel-Genest serves college students in grades 7 via 12 and operates below the Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est, Ottawa’s French Catholic college board.
The Ottawa Police Service confirms that investigators are actively reviewing the case.
