To the editor: It’s troublesome to reconcile employees author Jaweed Kaleem’s report on UC campus antisemitism (“Occasions Investigation: Ex-Trump DOJ legal professionals say ‘fraudulent’ UC antisemitism probes led them to stop,” Dec. 13), which focuses on just one facet of the story, with the next assertion from U.S. District Courtroom Choose Mark C. Scarsi in Frankel vs. UC Regents:
“Within the yr 2024, in the US of America, within the State of California, within the Metropolis of Los Angeles, Jewish college students have been excluded from parts of the UCLA campus as a result of they refused to denounce their religion. This reality is so unimaginable and so abhorrent to our constitutional assure of non secular freedom that it bears repeating, Jewish college students have been excluded from parts of the UCLA campus as a result of they refused to denounce their religion. UCLA doesn’t dispute this. As an alternative, UCLA claims that it has no accountability to guard the spiritual freedom of its Jewish college students.”
With this factual background, I hope all Individuals assist the Justice Division’s investigation into potential civil rights violations towards Jewish college students on UC campuses — no matter who sits within the Oval Workplace.

To the editor: The widespread and, sure, even hardly ever violent protests by faculty college students over what’s happening in Gaza had nothing to do with antisemitism. They have been about preventing the unimaginable struggling of the Palestinians and criticizing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his far-right authorities for his or her assaults on the Palestinian folks.
It has at all times been the correct of scholars and an ideal necessity to protest wrongdoings and assaults on human rights.
