To the editor: I experience Class 1 e-bikes on the seaside bike path most weekends (“Electrical bikes will be quick and harmful. Right here’s how one can keep secure,” April 1). I put on a helmet, use entrance and back lights and modify my velocity to match situations.

Too typically, nonetheless, I’m handed by riders going far too quick, generally filming with one hand on a cellphone and never carrying helmets. The bike path is a shared leisure area the place youngsters dart throughout, canine wander, volleyballs roll via and pedestrians cross with out trying.

Merely discussing the problem isn’t sufficient. I not often see any enforcement of current security guidelines. Clear enforcement, together with warnings and fines, would go a good distance towards making a safer and extra cohesive atmosphere for everybody.
