OpenAI has been awarded a $200 million contract to offer the U.S. Protection Division with synthetic intelligence instruments.

The division introduced the one-year contract on Monday, months after OpenAI stated it might collaborate with protection expertise startup Anduril to deploy superior AI methods for “nationwide safety missions.”

“Beneath this award, the performer will develop prototype frontier AI capabilities to deal with crucial nationwide safety challenges in each warfighting and enterprise domains,” the Protection Division stated. It is the primary contract with OpenAI listed on the Division of Protection’s web site.

Anduril obtained a $100 million protection contract in December. Weeks earlier, OpenAI rival Anthropic stated it might work with Palantir and Amazon to provide its AI fashions to U.S. protection and intelligence companies.

Sam Altman, OpenAI’s co-founder and CEO, stated in a dialogue with OpenAI board member and former Nationwide Safety Company chief Paul Nakasone at a Vanderbilt College occasion in April that “we’ve got to and are proud to and actually wish to have interaction in nationwide safety areas.”
