To the editor: I’ve lived in Laguna Seaside for greater than 50 years and never till the previous couple of years have my spouse and I wanted air-con. Beforehand, we simply opened our home windows and refreshing Pacific breezes swept in. We now use our electrical warmth pump to chill our dwelling throughout warmth waves. Lots of our neighbors, equally, are discovering the necessity to set up cooling programs as coastal temperatures rise.
With the present Southland warmth wave in thoughts, we hoped for cooler temperatures by driving up the coast to Massive Sur, from the place I’m writing (“Dozens of temperature information shattered throughout SoCal as historic March warmth wave sizzles on,” March 18). However the scorching climate appears to have adopted us. Within the 50 years our household has been coming as much as this iconic coastal dreamscape, we’ve by no means skilled spring climate this boiling — within the mid-80s.
To dramatically curb the carbon emissions heating the planet, Congress should put a polluters payment on the fossil fuels endangering a livable local weather.
