To the editor: Congratulations to New Zealand for preserving such a blessing to the world with its kakapo conservation efforts (“A bumper berry harvest has New Zealand’s bizarre flightless parrot in a uncommon temper for love,” Feb. 23). Many years in the past, after I learn “Final Probability to See” by Douglas Adams and Mark Carwardine, the scenario for the birds appeared dire.
The nice lengths to which New Zealand went to avoid wasting the birds is inspiring and is such a present. Too usually, we learn of a species solely after it’s misplaced. But right here, there was an opportunity to avoid wasting the fowl, which was a hit.
