Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday sharply criticized “pretend MAGA-manufactured outrage” over his feedback about his low SAT rating in Atlanta Sunday throughout his nationwide e-book tour.

“First MAGA mocked his dyslexia and now they’re calling him racist for speaking about his low SAT scores,” stated Izzy Gardon, a spokesperson for Newsom, in a press release. “The governor has stated this publicly for years — together with with [the late conservative commentator] Charlie Kirk and dozens of different audiences.”

Throughout a dialog with Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, who’s a Black politician, Newsom was requested what he wished the viewers and readers to learn about him. The governor, in a long-winded response, stated he wasn’t attempting to impress anybody, however “press upon you I’m such as you.”

“I’m no higher than you,” Newsom stated. “I’m a 960 SAT man.”

The governor continued to debate his dyslexia and battle to learn.

“@GavinNewsom Thinks a 960 SAT Makes Him ‘Like’ Black People. Let That Sink In,” Fox Information commentator Sean Hannity posted on the social media platform X.

Newsom provided a profanity-laced retort to Hannity, accusing him of lengthy ignoring President Trump’s racist remarks and social media posts, then feigning outrage at Newsom’s remarks.

“You didn’t give a shit concerning the President of the US of America posting an ape video of President Obama or calling African nations shitholes — however you’re going to name me racist for speaking about my lifelong battle with dyslexia?” Newsom posted on X. “Spare me your pretend fucking outrage, Sean.”

Gardon identified that Newsom was talking to a mixed-race viewers through the dialog with Dickens.

Dickens additionally rejected the allegations that Newsom was being racist.

“Take it from somebody who was truly within the chair asking the questions: context issues greater than a headline,” Dickens stated on Instagram. “The dialog round his new e-book included him talking about his personal tutorial struggles, together with not doing properly on the SAT. That wasn’t an assault on anybody. It was a second of vulnerability about his personal journey.”

Sunday’s occasion wasn’t the primary time Newsom has talked about his SAT rating. The governor has cited his efficiency on the take a look at many instances in conversations about his dyslexia and points with shallowness rising up, together with throughout an interview with The Occasions about his new memoir “Younger Man in a Hurry” earlier this month.

“Come on, I’m a 960 SAT man, governor of the fourth largest financial system on the planet,” Newsom advised The Occasions. “I’m a man, you understand, with sweaty fingers as described within the e-book, you understand, who can’t learn a speech, and I’m governor. I’m speaking to you. Come on, the entire thing is type of fascinating.”

Newsom used the low rating for example of the grit and resilience he discovered from his mom.

The governor is accustomed to sparring with Republicans on social media. Ring-wing furor over his remarks, whether or not justified or politically motivated, is prone to proceed as he flirts with a 2028 presidential run.

“We’ve gotten so used to loud, chest-pounding politics that when somebody speaks about shortcomings, folks attempt to twist it into one thing else,” Dickens, stated in his submit on Instagram. “Let me be clear although. That is Atlanta. We don’t want anybody to inform us when to be offended. And historical past has proven… once we are, you’ll know.”
