PITTSBURG — After 29 years in legislation enforcement, Pittsburg Police Chief Steve Albanese will retire, he introduced.
Albanese took over the function in June 2022, after Chief Brian Addington retired.
“Chief Albanese will proceed to work carefully with Metropolis management to assist a clean transition and help in planning for the division’s future management,” stated the town in a press release on Friday.
Albanese, a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Nationwide Academy in Quantico, Virginia, superior by way of the ranks of the Pittsburg Police Division, serving in numerous management assignments and contributing “almost to each operational space of municipal policing,” stated the town.
“His tenure as Chief was outlined by a dedication to accountability, professionalism, and strengthening relationships with the group and regional companions,” the town stated. “His professionalism, dedication to service, and deep institutional information have been central to the division’s ongoing improvement, measurable crime discount efforts, and long-term organizational stability.”
Albanese stated serving as Pittsburg’s police chief was one of many “biggest honors” of his life.
When he assumed the function, Albanese stated he dedicated to remaining responsive, growing partnerships to scale back crime, and offering “truthful {and professional} policing” to the group.
“I’m extraordinarily happy with the work of our officers and your complete police division,” stated Albanese. “We now have made wonderful strides in offering skilled police providers, growing our outreach and group engagement, and lowering crime to a five-year low.”
Pittsburg Metropolis Supervisor Darin Gale famous Albanese’s management has had a “lasting and constructive” influence on the town and the police division.

Town will choose its subsequent chief of police within the coming months.
