To the editor: My fondest childhood reminiscences from the early Fifties come from once I was residing in Pacoima on Van Nuys Boulevard, strolling hand-in-hand with my grandfather down the boulevard the place all of the small Black- and Mexican-owned companies have been situated.
I used to be so proud to learn the article by Jasmine Mendez acknowledging Stylesville Barbershop & Magnificence Salon because the oldest Black-owned enterprise within the metropolis of Los Angeles (“Historic Black barbershop in San Fernando Valley receives metropolis landmark plaque,” Oct. 12). Noticing the well-worn situation of the barber chairs, I hope that somebody with the means to take action will come ahead to switch them, or maybe there could possibly be a neighborhood fundraiser.
