To the editor: The brouhaha over the Katie Porter interview is fueled by false, social media-driven memes that attempt to say she lacks the {qualifications} to function governor (“‘I don’t need this all on digicam,’ gubernatorial hopeful Katie Porter says in testy interview,” Oct. 8). The interviewer apparently anticipated her to calmly recite bland bromides. When she refused, parts of the Democratic institution and her Republican haters shortly denounced Porter and tried to discredit her candidacy.
California Democrats, don’t purchase it. As we speak’s politics name for energetic defiance and a governor able to countering the autocratic insurance policies of President Trump. The vitality of worldwide commerce, a cornerstone of our financial system, must be restored. Labor markets and flows, disrupted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids and immigration restriction, require stabilization. And Porter’s file makes her ideally suited to tackle one among our most urgent issues: housing availability and affordability.
In instances like these, we want an individual of conviction and democratic precept keen to confront the reactionary extremism of Trump and his minions. For a variety of necessary causes, Katie Porter matches the invoice.
